Site Building Frustrations

Finding and publishing this is not all I got done today, but it’s all the more I can do right now. I found an email marketing system worthy of promotion, and which I plan to try myself. However, I can’t get the site editor to come up on Firefox, and I don’t care which software designers it upsets, Internet Explorer is a steaming pile of crap. It crashes constantly, and it took me over an hour to enter a little bit of text and a picture. Now it won’t even let me log in. For the moment, I give up.

I’m running the latest version of Firefox. I have the latest version of Flash. I’ve upgraded Java. Yet still, the system grinds on and on saying “be patient while loading Javascript files. At this point I can’t even get that far in I.E. Unfortunately, Chrome isn’t supported.

I’ve decided to upgrade my OS to Windows 8. I’m still using P.O.S. Vista. I don’t know if this will help my other problems, but it can’t hurt.

Hopefully I will have better news later.

  1. Wow, that stinks. I’m not sure what software you’re using to build your website, but if you’re as fed up with Windows and IE as you sound, you might consider installing Ubuntu Linux as a dual-boot OS on your computer. Linux is free, fast, secure, and it has a massive library of mostly free software. Lots of folks will write open-source free software, but there are developers out there writing and selling really stellar programs for Linux systems.

Based on what you’re saying, it sounds like your computer is just running slowly and could use more memory? Windows operating systems are typically consume more and more resources with each release, so if you upgrade to Windows 8 it may actually make the program slower since the operating system is consuming the lion’s share of your system memory.

Good luck figuring this out D:

  2. Thanks James. You may be right, but to be honest, I’ve never worked with anything but Windows, and I wouldn’t know Linux from a hole in the ground. I’m completely self taught, starting back in the early 1990’s. I haven’t had the luxury of being able to take a computer course.
The page designer is pretty good for a design-impared nitwit like me, when it’s working. Well, now it’s working again, but I just want to beat my head against a wall until my brain falls out.
I may need more memory, I don’t know. If I get enough money ahead (ha) I should probably just take the thing to an expert and let them figure it out.

Thank you for your kind comments and polite constructive critique to help improve my business.
